FORMALITIES
Passports must be valid for 6 months after the returning date. Myanmar Visa applications cannot be done more than 3 months ahead of the departure date.
Tourist visa validity is for a maximum of 28 days. Visas can be obtained from Myanmar embassies or at arrival if there is no embassy in the country from where you come from.

VACCINATION HEALTH
Except for yellow fever if you arrive from a country at risk, no vaccination is required.
Updating your vaccinations against tetanus, poliomyelitis, tuberculosis, is essential and those against hepatitis A and B are recommended.
CURRENCY - EXCHANGE
The local currency is Kyat (Ks) and the rate fluctuates. At this printing date (February 2009) 1 US$ = 1000 Kyats.
Accepted currencies
Accepted currencies are American dollars, Euros,and Thai baht. Since July 2003, transactions by credit cards are not possible except in very few establishments. Cash withdrawl machines are not available in Myanmar. It is imperative that you bring sufficient cash to cover your travel expenses.
LANGUAGES
Myanmar is spoken throughout the country. Many dialects and languages are used by the various ethnic minorities. English is the most spoken international language.

Tropical climate. Wet and hot in the south, dry and often cold in the north.
